Hilux Service Schedule for African Road Conditions

28 July 2026 6 min read

Dust, corrugated gravel and long fuel intervals change everything. Here is the service interval we recommend for Hilux fleets across Southern Africa.

Toyota's standard 10,000km service interval assumes sealed roads and clean fuel. Across much of Zimbabwe, Zambia and Botswana neither assumption holds, so we advise fleets to shorten intervals and prioritise filtration.

Air filters should be inspected every 5,000km in dry season and replaced at the first sign of dust loading. Fuel filters carry the biggest risk: contaminated diesel destroys injectors far faster than mileage alone suggests.

Suspension bushes, wheel bearings and shock absorbers wear at roughly double the European rate on corrugated gravel. Budget a full suspension inspection every 20,000km and keep a bearing kit on the shelf.

We supply pre-picked service kits keyed to VIN, so a workshop opens one box per service rather than chasing individual part numbers.
